DeWayne Davis is the mayor Minneapolis needs because he leads with his heart and his soul. He calls others into courageous leadership and he reminds us to be of service to one another. Minneapolis faces a clear choice of who we want to lead us in the face of opportunism, ignorance, and fear. I’m grateful that Pastor DeWayne is giving us a choice we can support from a place of love and caring for each other and I’m proud to support him.

It takes intelligence—both smarts and emotional intelligence—to know and see people as they are and treat them with respect and dignity. To get things done, you first need a crystal clear vision of what can be possible even in the darkest of situations. And then you must have the skill and confidence to make it happen. I know of no one who has a clearer vision for what Minneapolis can be—not just for the few but for the marginalized, the unseen, the struggling, unhoused. He talks about it all the time, and then he lives that vision through his actions. DeWayne will be the Mayor for ALL people. And he will get things done for them, because his vision is so compelling-- but even more because he has the ability to bring people together. And isn’t that what we need in Minneapolis? No more divisiveness. No more petty haggling—all of which erode confidence in government.

Minneapolis is at an inflection point, and this moment calls for bold, visionary leadership. That’s why I’m proud to support DeWayne Davis for Mayor.

Our city faces complex challenges—housing affordability, the crisis of the unhoused, public safety, and youth mental health. These are not problems any one person or group can solve alone. They demand a leader who can unite communities, build coalitions across sectors, and bring people together around real solutions.

DeWayne Davis is that leader. He has the vision, compassion, and strength to guide Minneapolis into a future where everyone has a chance to thrive.

As a leader in the fight to end HIV in Minnesota, I have had the privilege of working closely with DeWayne Davis over the years, advocating for housing, basic needs, HIV funding and trans rights. I have seen firsthand his support for all people living in Minneapolis and his genuine commitment to creating a more inclusive city. Now, more than ever, we need a leader like DeWayne—someone we can trust and who will leave no one behind.

DeWayne has shown that he believes in working with our city leaders and constituents, not against them. I am confident that DeWayne will fight for a Minneapolis that is equitable by bringing people together and finding common ground.

His leadership has inspired me to believe that there is indeed room for all of us at the table. I hope you’ll join me in supporting DeWayne Davis for Mayor of Minneapolis. Together, we can build a city that reflects the best in all of us.

'“The desire of the heart is to be named, known & celebrated.”

These words, shared by Reverend DeWayne Davis over five years ago, gave me the language to understand my lifelong yearning for belonging. Today, as a trusted advocate, I hold space for others to experience this same belonging. These words were a gift to me, and I am honored to regift them year-round. Thank you, DeWayne!

I heartily endorse Rev. Dr. DeWayne Davis for Mayor of Minneapolis! As a fellow faith leader engaged in anti-racism work, I have seen DeWayne show up again and again with passion and commitment. He is a strong leader who issues a clear and inspiring call to action that leads to justice. DeWayne is passionate about the dignity and safety of ALL people living in our city. My heart breaks at the cruel treatment of the most vulnerable in Minneapolis – I believe that treatment would change with Dewayne in the Mayor’s office. My commitment to support DeWayne’s run for Mayor became more enthusiastic when I learned that he has degrees in Economics, Government and Politics, as well as previous work as a policy aide/legislative analyst in DC and that he co-chaired the Minneapolis Community Safety Work group. DeWayne has the passion, skills, and knowledge necessary to be a great mayor.

I have known and worked with Rev Dr DeWayne Davis for several years now. I am eager to see him elected as the next Mayor of Minneapolis for these reasons:

    • He brings vision and a moral compass to electoral government.

    • He has extensive administrative experience and gets things done.

    • He offers a hopeful, healing, and reconciling presence to a city still divided by the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd and the pandemic.

    • He has strong relational connections with both grassroots communities and business leaders.

    • He easily navigates the complexities of city, county, and state intersections.

    • He loves Minneapolis.

DeWayne has plans to ensure everyone gets a say, not just monied downtown interests. He knows that no city can survive if it ignores its most marginalized residents - how those on the bottom rung are faring is a measure of the city overall. With his leadership, Minneapolis can truly become the progressive icon it has claimed to be for its LGBTQ, BIPOC, and disabled residents.

Dr. Davis' commitment to the safety, dignity, and opportunity of ALL people brings what I know to be most important in life into the governance of our community. He has broad experience in very practical issues (economics, effective government, coalition building) and the temperament we need in our political leaders.

Meet DeWayne, listen to what he says, watch how he handles challenging questions, give him an opportunity to earn your support.

When I met Dr. Davis, one of the things that stood out to me was his understanding of how the mayor’s office functions as part of a team, both in leading the city along with council and also in working with partners such as the county and state, something I feel has been lacking.

I believe he will do an outstanding job in strengthening the relationships and inviting the community involvement that are sorely needed to help Minneapolis be the best city it can for all of us.
